Generating CSR and installing an SSL certificate for the IBM HTTP Server

In this article, we'll look at the process of generating a CSR request, as well as installing an SSL certificate for the IBM HTTP Web Server.

How to generate CSR for IBM HTTP Web Server:

First, you will need to open IKEYMAN and create a key pair and a CSR in the Key Database. For each key and CSR, a separate database can be created, but you can manage one database.
To create a new database, start IKEYMAN, select Key Database File and click New, and then enter the name of your new database. Click OK, enter the password, confirm it and click OK again.
To create a new key pair and CSR, open your database in IKEYMAN.
Select Create, then New Certificate Request. Enter all necessary information in the form. For keysize, it's best to use 2048-bit.
After filling out the form, click OK. Finally, open the CSR, copy the content (including BEGIN and END tags) and paste it into the SSL certificate order form on the LeaderSSL site.
Once you receive the SSL certificate from the LeaderSSL store, you can install it on the server.

How to install the SSL certificate for IBM HTTP Web Server:

The first thing you need to do is install the root certificate and intermediate certificates of the vendor that you selected (Comodo, Symantec, etc.). You will need to download these certificates from the official website of the company.

Installing the root certificate and intermediate certificates

On UNIX, open IKEYMAN from the command line. In Windows®, run the Key Management utility from the IBM HTTP Server folder.
Locate the Key Database File. Click Open.
Select the key database and click OK.
Enter the password and confirm it. Click OK.
In the Key Database window, click the Signer Certificates link. Click Add.
Select the certificate that you want to add, then click OK. Start with the root certificate. If you receive a message that the file is already installed, click Continue.
Next, upload the intermediate certificates.
